Splitting the print job

The default option is to produce a single print output file for all the tables in the data source.

However, you have the option of splitting the print job into either multiple batches or a specified number of records per batch.

Notes:

  • The parameters of this section are not included in the template because they are project-specific.

  • You can use the batching (job split) option to pipeline jobs and begin printing in prepared batches without waiting for the entire job to complete. This feature also makes it easier to reprint specific batches instead of the entire job, when required.

  • Important: To enforce consistent order and avoid unexpected results, it is mandatory that the plan filter query includes the ORDER BY clause. Without it, in certain cases (e.g. automatic or manual split production), some recipients may receive multiple outputs, while others receive none.

To split the print job into batches:

  1. In the Split area, select the Split job to checkbox.

  2. Type the required number of print batches in the text box.

  3. From the dropdown box, select one of the following options:

    • Records per batch: The number of records to be included in each batch

    • Batches: The number of batches in which the records are evenly divided.

The batch ID is added to the name of each Print Output batch file.
