uStore: Migrating uProduce Destinations to Post Composition Operations
Note: This is relevant only for uStore installations that work with uProduce version 25.2 and above.
Overview
This article provides detailed instructions for migrating uProduce destinations to the new Post Composition Operations, in a way that will not interfere with uStore production. The migration involves creating a parallel post composition operation for each destination and updating the products accordingly.
Important
uProduce Output Destinations are deprecated, and are going to be discontinued in future versions of uProduce. See deprecation and discontinuation dates. You are urged to migrate your relevant products to the new Post Composition Operations.
Steps to Migrate Destinations
Step 1: Identify which Output Destinations are used by uStore
In your uStore Store List screen, click the “Download products list” link to identify any Output Destinations that are used by uStore. This link is shown to admins that have access to all stores, and only if there are products that use an Output Destination in their uProduce job ID. The steps outlined here only need to be performed for the destinations used by uStore. Any output destinations that are not used by uStore can be migrated to Post Composition Operations without impacting uStore.
The process will create a CSV which is used in the following steps.
Step 2: Create a Parallel Post Composition Operation
For every Output Destination that is used by uStore, you need to create a parallel post composition operation. This operation will replace the deprecated destination functionality.
You can do it by either using the Transform All option for all destinations, or the Transform button for each specific relevant destination.
Step 3: Update Products with New Process Jobs
For each product listed in the CSV file that you downloaded, use the uProduce dashboard to create a new process job that uses the new post composition operation.
-
Download the CSV file containing the list of products with destinations.
-
Open the CSV file and identify the products that need updating.
-
In uProduce, create a new process job for each product, using the new Post Composition Operation you created earlier.
-
In uStore, navigate to and edit the relevant products.
-
Replace the existing job ID with the new process job ID created in uProduce.
-
Save the product.
-
Test the product in the storefront, to verify that the output is created and being saved to the desired location.
Conclusion
By following these steps, you will successfully migrate your uProduce destinations to the new method, ensuring continued functionality and avoiding disruptions.
