Password protection for videos

Password protection allows you to secure your videos by requiring users to enter a password before they can watch a video. This ensures that only authorized viewers can watch the video, providing an additional layer of security and control over who can see your content.

If the password entered is incorrect, a message indicating the error will be shown. After a certain number of failed attempts, the account will be temporarily locked. This helps prevent unauthorized access and protects the video from being viewed by unintended audiences.

Password protection is useful in various scenarios, such as when sharing sensitive information, hosting private events, or controlling access to premium content. By configuring the password settings, including the number of allowed attempts, lock duration, and prompt messages, you can tailor the protection to meet your specific security needs.

Important: The tag that is used for the password cannot be used in the design.

To set password protection:

  1. In the Deploy to XMPie Video Service dialog, select the Password Protection option.

  2. In the Password Protection dialog, configure the following security settings:

    • Password Tag: Select the tag that will be used for verifying the password when opening the video.

    • Prompt Text: Enter the text that will be shown to users when they are prompted to enter a password. For example, “Please enter your password”.

    • Wrong Password Message: Define the message displayed when a user enters an incorrect password, such as "Invalid password. Please try again”.

    • Number of Attempts: Specify how many times a user is allowed to enter an incorrect password before the account becomes locked. If a user exceeds this number, the account will be temporarily locked.

    • Lock Duration (minutes): Specify for how long (in minutes) an account will be locked after the maximum number of incorrect password attempts has been reached. For example, setting this value to 15 means the account will be locked for 15 minutes.

    • Lock Message: Enter the message that users will see if their account is locked due to too many incorrect password attempts. For example, "Your account is locked. Please try again later."

    • Attempts Period (minutes): Set the time frame (in minutes) during which the allowed number of password attempts is counted. For example, if the time period is set to 10 minutes, the attempts count will reset every 10 minutes.
