Before users can set up a Composite Product in the Storefront (see Setting Up Composite Documents), they must have a Preview Campaign to enable a realistic preview of the document. The Campaign can include visualization of certain properties that can be displayed (for example, different binder selections).
The recipients (records) in the campaign data source represent a spread of two pages, in a left and right form.
Assume the recipient list is in the following format:
Column Name |
Description/Valude |
|
---|---|---|
Left_Page |
The left_page and right_page values are filenames of images used to visually display a particular page spread in the preview campaign’s generated output proof file. The image for each page in the spread is generated as a JPG, for the proof/preview. |
Path and image filename of the page on the left (thumbnail and JPG to be used in proof). This may be empty, if no pages are printed on the left. If the sheet is single sided (Product Property – Double Sided is false), this value will be “blank” (the word blank, in lower-case). |
Right_Page |
Path and image filename of the page on the right (thumbnail and JPG to be used in proof). This may be empty, if no pages are printed on the right. If the sheet is single sided (Product Property – Double Sided is false), this column will have the path/filename of the image to be shown. |
|
Left_Orientation |
The left_orientation and right_orientation values are Landscape or Portrait, based on the image being sent to use in the preview campaign templates’ proof. |
Represents the orientation of the Left page. Can be either “Portrait” or “Landscape” |
Right_Orientation |
Represents the orientation of the Right page. Can be either “Portrait” or “Landscape” |
|
Left_[Property Name] |
The selected value of the property relevant for the Left / Right page. For example, a user selected gloss lamination for the Left Page. The column name is Left_Lamination (or Right_Lamination) and the value is Gloss. This will appear for each property. The column name is case sensitive to the property name as defined in uStore. It is recommended to use only the properties you demonstrate in the preview. |
|
[Property Name] |
The selected value of a property of the Composite document. Eg. Binding Type |
When uStore generates the completed production document, each page generated for the completed production document is a PDF (not a JPG). The Composite product’s output will be one or more PDF files based on the product property prepress setup values. (For example, a Cookbook, Composite product’s output could be 3 PDF files, the front cover, the inside pages, and the back cover, because they use different paper and/or finishing types.)
To create a preview campaign.
1. Create a new InDesign Document, in a proportion that will represent the finished product (spread + binding).
2. Link the document to the above data source, with at least one sample line. (For reference, you may use the schema described above to create your own data source).
3. Create 3 graphic items on the InDesign Document: left page, right page (each using the size of a single page) and a binder in the middle. (The size of the binder image should be defined to hover over the left and the right page to represent the actual binding).
4. Attach the left image with the Left_Page ADOR, the right image with the Right_Page ADOR, and the middle image with the Binding Type ADOR.
5. Create Content Objects using Rules to enable page orientation changes in the preview, and more rules if necessary.
6. Export the campaign as CPKG and upload it to uProduce.
