Flexibility in crafting the shopping experience
Theme Editor and Theme Management
uStore NG comes with an out-of-the-box theme especially designed for your online store. Customizing a theme to best fit your organization’s branding guidelines can be achieved within seconds using the WYSIWYG Theme Editor.
The Theme Editor provides simple control over design elements such as fonts, colors and images. Changes that you make are saved as draft, which you can preview and then publish to the online store.
Further freedom of design can be achieved by editing the CSS code via the Theme Editor. In addition, the CSS uses variables which enable you, with a single change, to globally customize multiple UI elements.
Using uStore NG technology you can craft the shopping experience by enhancing it with new content and capabilities.
Downloading a theme, you obtain full access of all HTML and CSS files of the Storefront, making it easy to add HTML content to your store. Adding text and imagery to the homepage was never as straightforward.
Taking this flexibility even further, you can actually develop the theme, i.e. add new behavior and flows to the shopping experience by placing custom code in the HTML pages. This can be achieved using three technologies provided by uStore NG: the ability to add ReactJS code, uStore NG core library which allows retrieval and manipulation of data, and REST APIs which allow interaction with uStore’s backend.
uStore comes with an out-of-the-box theme that is especially designed for your store's needs. uStore NG's theme follows the latest trends: it is mobile friendly, visually appealing, neat and vivid. The theme places a stress on design, interactivity and user experience.
Skins are used with Legacy stores. Themes are used with uStore NG stores. Unlike skins, theme control both the look and the functionality of the store. Since the HTML pages are at your disposal, you can add HTML content as well as code to the pages. For example, you can add a cross-sell panel to the homepage, replace the banner with a slider or add a new FAQ page. You can therefore enhance an existing theme with custom features which are not out-of-the-box.
If you wish to make simple customizations to a store's theme (change colors, fonts, logo, images, etc.), it is advisable to use the Theme Editor. Changes that you make in the editor are per store and do not affect the master (XMPie) theme.
If you wish to develop a theme - add HTML content and code or make design changes which are not possible via the Theme Editor - do so via Theme Management.
