Managing Destinations
Note: Options in the Destinations area are being deprecated and replaced by the Post Composition Operations feature, which offers support for compression, destinations, and additional capabilities. Existing destinations can be migrated to post composition operations.
You can use uProduce settings to define different kinds of destinations to which you will send your production outputs. Once these destinations are defined, you can select them from the Destination dropdown list in the Process page. These destinations include:
-
FTP Sites
-
Network paths: can also be used to accommodate the Xerox Input Folders
-
Network Printers: can also be used to utilize the Xerox FreeFlow Output Manager mechanism
-
Xerox FreeFlow Automatic Submission
Define a new destination

Define a network path destination
Set up the remote server
When sending your production results to a remote destination, the target machine can be accessed using one of the following authentication methods:
-
The target machine is accessed using the same Windows user name and password as the ones used for the machine on which uProduce is installed.
-
Note, if no user is specified during the uProduce installation, uProduce runs with the Windows user that was logged in at the time uProduce was installed.
-
On the remote server (target machine), define a new user with local administrator permissions, and with the same user name and password used during the uProduce installation.
Note: The new user on the remote server is used only for access permission and does not have to be used when logging into the server.
The target machine is accessed using different credentials or a different domain.
The target destination can be AWS S3. For more information, see details below.
To define a network path destination:
-
In the Type list, select Network Path and click OK.
The New Destination page for network paths is displayed.
-
Enter the required information.
-
Click Saveto save the information.
The New Destination page for network paths includes the following fields and options:
Option
Description
Name
Enter a name for the network path that will serve as your destination.
Network Folder Path
Enter the full path to the desired location.*
Connect to a network folder path that requires authentication
Select this checkbox if you wish to connect to a remote machine using different credentials than the ones that are used to log in to the uProduce server.
Username
The username required to connect to the network path.
Password
The password required to connect to the network path.
Domain
The domain of the network path. The domain name is required if the network path and the uProduce installation reside in different domains. Otherwise, it is optional.
* When using AWS S3 as the desired destination, enter s3://region:bucketName/folder/subfolder?accessKey:secretKey as the network path, where:
- Region depends on the AWS region you use, for example, "eu-west-1".
-
bucketName is a pre-created bucket name in S3.
-
accessKey and secretKey should have sufficient IAM privileges.
It is highly recommended to encrypt the secret key by adding a uProduce encryption prefix, for example:
s3://region:bucketName/folder/subfolder?Encrypt{accessKey}Encrypt:Encrypt{secretKey}Encrypt
Use Xerox FreeFlow input folders
The FreeFlow Input Folder mechanism serves two main functions:
-
An archiving mechanism, also known as a “Cold Folder”, for the FreeFlow Print Manager. Note that you can archive a JDF file with its appropriate print output file by including the JDF file in this folder.
-
A Hot Folder mechanism for the FreeFlow Process Manager. This mechanism is used for sending print jobs to predefined Hot Folders, which streamline the digital production workflow.
The Archiving mechanism and the Hot Folder mechanism are both implemented in uProduce as destinations whose Type is Network Path.
Define a network printer destination
-
In the Type list, select Network printer and click OK.
The New Destination page for network printers is displayed.
-
Enter the required information.
-
Click Save to save the information.

Network printer for FreeFlow Output Manager (FFOM) Mechanism
uProduce allows you to utilize Xerox FFOM mechanism for defining a printer queue as a Windows printer.
Note: A printer queue defined in Windows can process only VPC packed files. JDF files are not supported.
To define a network printer for the FFOM mechanism:
-
Define a printer queue using Windows Add New Printer option (point to the DFE IP address and include the printer queue name).
-
In the Settings page, select Destinations and click New.
The New Destination page is displayed.
-
Select Network Printer and click OK.
The New Destination page for network printers is displayed.
-
Select the newly created network printer from the Network Printer drop-down and type a name for this printer in Name field.
-
Click Save to save your settings.
Define FreeFlow automatic submission
Xerox FreeFlow Print Manager is used to automate the digital print process. It provides an integrated view for managing multiple Digital Front-Ends (DFE) and monochrome and color digital production printers (cut-sheet, continuous feed, and wide format printers).
uProduce uses FreeFlow Print Manager’s Automatic Submission mechanism to send print jobs to a designated printer and a designated queue.
To define a FreeFlow Automatic Submission queue:
You can define a single “Xerox FreeFlow Automatic Submission” destination only for a uProduce server.
-
In the Settings page, select Destinations and click New.
The New Destination page is displayed.
-
Select Xerox FreeFlow Automatic Submission from the Type drop-down list.
-
Enter the path for the FreeFlow “print.exe” file in the Location field. In the Name field, enter a descriptive name, such as “FreeFlow Automatic Submission queue”.
-
Click Refresh Queues to retrieve any new queues that were defined for the Digital Front End (DFE) you are using.
-
Check the Create “FFPM” custom button check box to create a custom button with the label FFPM (FreeFlow Print Manager). This button will be used to launch the FreeFlow Print Manager application. For more information on custom buttons, see Defining Custom Buttons.
Note: If an FFPM Custom Button has already been created, a check box labeled ‘Update “FFPM” Custom Button’ will appear. Checking this check box updates the existing path with the addition \FreeFlow Print Manager.exe. If all three custom button have been assigned, the ‘Update/Create “FFPM” Custom Button’ option will not be available.
-
Click Test to test the FreeFlow Automatic Submission queue.
-
Click Save to save the new defined queue.
